Cat Urine Collection Kit for Testing

29.98

The simplest and easiest way to collect cat urine for tests

This kit is specially designed and perfectly suited for collecting cat urine in our double-layer litter boxes. You won’t even need to get your hands dirty or wait around for your cat. Everything is very simple.

The kit can also be used with a regular litter box.

This set is designed for comfortable use up to 5 times.
After that, it is recommended to dispose of the pellets and use a new kit.

⚠️ Important: Using the pellets more than 5 times will result in inaccurate or false test results due to surface wear and contamination of the pellets.

How to collect a urine sample if you have a double-layer litter box

Instructions for use

  1. Prepare the litter box
Remove the old litter, wash thoroughly, and dry the box completely.
Important: Try not to touch the pellets or the urine collection trays with your hands to avoid bacteria or dirt contaminating the test.

  2. Add pellets and install trays
Pour the reusable pellets from the kit onto the upper grate of the litter box.
Place the special urine collection trays in the bottom part of the box (as shown in the illustration), on top of the pad.

  3. Collect the urine sample
Once your cat uses the box, collect the urine with the pipette provided in the kit and deliver the sample to a veterinary lab for testing.
(Check with your lab or vet about the allowed storage time and temperature for samples.)

  4. Check protein levels in urine
To test for protein, dip the indicator strip into the urine for 3 seconds. Remove and wait 1 minute for the color to develop.

  5. Clean pellets for reuse
After use, pellets must be thoroughly washed before reuse.
For convenience, transfer the used pellets from the litter box into a plastic bag (e.g., trash bag), then pour them into the nylon washing bag included in the kit.
Rinse the pellets thoroughly under running water and let them dry completely before using again.

Important information

Accuracy of results
The test results may be inaccurate if:

  • the litter box was not cleaned properly,

  • foreign substances entered the sample,

  • or pellets were reused too many times.

Purpose of the rapid test
The protein indicator strip is not a diagnosis and cannot be used as a basis for treatment.
It only serves as a marker, signaling that you should visit a veterinarian.

Why protein in cat urine matters

In healthy cats, urine should normally contain no protein, or only very small amounts.

The presence of protein in urine (proteinuria) can indicate:

  • Kidneys: inflammation, chronic kidney disease, glomerular damage.

  • Bladder / urinary tract: infections, inflammation.

  • General health: stress, fever, dehydration, or systemic diseases (e.g., diabetes, hypertension).

Therefore, detecting protein in urine is an important marker for early detection of diseases, especially kidney problems.

Protein levels and interpretation

  • Neg. (Negative): No protein – Normal

  • Trace (±): Small traces – acceptable if no other abnormalities

  • 1+ or less: Slightly elevated – questionable, repeat test or find cause

  • 2+ and above: High – seek veterinary advice and diagnostics

  • 3+ or 4+: Very high – often linked to serious kidney disease or severe urinary tract inflammation, veterinary consultation is required
