Operation Manual for Standard Double-Layer Cat Litter Box
Preparation for Use:
- Unpack the starter pack and assemble the classic litter box with a pull out tray.
- Add the entire 1.6 kg pack of litter pellets onto the tray grid. This is the required amount.
- Place the pad in the lower tray and carefully spread it out. Ensure the edges of the pad are lifted upwards to prevent liquid from getting underneath. The tray should remain dry.
- The litter box with pull-out tray is now ready for use!
Maintenance of the Litter Box:
Remove Solid Waste:
- Remove solid waste as it appears. Optionally, leave solid waste in the litter box briefly to dry, making it easier to separate any stuck granules.
- Solid waste can be disposed of in the toilet if it doesn’t have pellets stuck to it. Shake off any granules into a scoop, as they should not be flushed down the toilet since they do not dissolve in water.
Handling Diarrhea:
- If your cat has diarrhea, discard all soiled pellets.
- If your cat frequently has diarrhea, consult with the seller before purchasing the litter box.
Change the Pad:
- Change the pad once a week or as needed.
- Carefully remove the tray with the pad from the litter box and discard the used pad into a trash bag.
- Wipe or rinse the tray if anything spills on it.
- Insert a new pad and spread it out evenly, ensuring the edges are lifted.
- Place the tray with the pad back into the litter box.
Change the Granules:
- Change the granules monthly.
- Remove the top part of the litter box and add the pellets from the grid into a trash bag.
- Wash the grid with soap and water, and clean other parts of the litter box if they are dirty.
- Wipe all parts of the litter box with paper towels or a cloth. Optionally, disinfect the litter box parts.
- Reassemble the litter box, add fresh granules onto the grid, and place the pad in the tray, ensuring its edges are spread out and lifted.
Important Note!
Regardless of circumstances, the maximum duration before replacing the pellets with new ones is 60 days. It is prohibited to wash dirty granules and reuse them! Not changing or reusing pellets is dangerous for the health of both pets and humans, posing a risk of bacterial infection.
Usage – Frequency of Changing Pellets and Pads:
For one small cat (2-4 kg) per month:
- 4 pads (change every 7-8 days)
- 1 pack of granules (change every 30-60 days)
For one medium-sized cat (6 kg) per month:
- 4-6 pads (change every 5-7 days)
- 1 pack of granules (change monthly)
For two cats sharing one litter box per month:
- 6-10 pads (change every 3-5 days)
- 1 pack of granules (change monthly)
For three cats sharing one litter box per month:
- 8-12 pads (change every 3-5 days)
- 1-2 packs of granules (change every 2-3 weeks)
The frequency of changing pads can vary based on individual factors such as the cat’s health, urine output, size, and diet. If you notice odour from the pad before it’s due for a change, consult with the seller for advice. Additionally, you can use a special deodorizer that prevents odors from forming for an extended period.
How to Accommodate a Cat to a New Cat Starter Kit
In 95% of cases, there are typically no issues, and cats simply start using the new litter box once you place it where the old one was. Some cats may observe the new box and wait all day before using it. Occasionally, transferring some scent from the old litter box to the new one helps the cat recognize it as their new toilet.
If your cat refuses to use the new litter box, follow these steps sequentially rather than making all changes at once:
- Introduce the cat to the pellets. Add an adequate amount of granules into their old litter box, mixing them with the old litter filler. Allow the cat to become accustomed to the pellets.
- Place the new litter box with granules next to the old one. You can also remove the top edges of the new litter box if your cat prefers the absence of high edges.
- Stop cleaning the old litter box. Eventually, the cat will choose the clean, new litter box and start using it.
- Remove the old litter box.
Keep in mind that each cat has a unique personality, so patience is the key!
